Job summary
NHS Band 6 Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum
Contract Type: Temporary (Maternity Cover) 12 months
Hours Per Week: Full time 37.5
Location: Base location either St Mary's Hospital, Parkhurst Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 5TG, or Building 4000, Lakeside, North Harbour, Cosham, Portsmouth, PO6 3EN. Across site travel may be required, the frequency will be agreed locally
The Automation Developer will support the delivery of intelligent automation and digital process improvement across both Trusts.
You will develop, test, and maintain Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Power Platform applications, using your growing technical expertise to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance the Trusts digital capabilities.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to automation projects of varying complexity, ensuring that all solutions are robust, secure, and meet organisational and governance standards.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy RPA solutions using Blue Prism, following established standards and best practice.
- Assist in the design and implementation of Microsoft Power Platform applications, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Collaborate with senior developers, business analysts, and service leads to translate business requirements into effective automation solutions.
- Maintain and enhance existing automations, ensuring reliability and ongoing value.
- Produce technical documentation, reusable components, and accurate process records.
- Support users and colleagues in understanding and adopting automated solutions.
- Ensure compliance with Information Governance, data protection, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Contribute to process improvement, testing, and innovation activities within the automation team.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing and skill-building across the wider digital team.

Specific Core Functions

- Dissemination of knowledge through engagement in report writing, and reviewing, taking full responsibility for technical accuracy and reliability and being sensitive to the wider implications of that dissemination.
- Ensure that expertise is seen as a resource within and outside the Trust and form working partnerships with government departments, national agencies and key stakeholders.
- Develop structures, systems, ways of working and personal values that will support the Trusts sustainable development objectives with regard to issues such as Carbon reduction and waste minimisation; and to encourage all stakeholders of the Trust to act as enthusiastic agents of change.
