Job summary
NHS Band 7: Salary £49,387 - £56,515 per annum
Hours per Week: Full time 37.5
Fixed Term Contract: 18 months
Location: Your base location will be either IWT or PHU, but we support a hybrid approach to working which includes remotely.

The OneEPR Programme exists to implement a single integrated electronic patient record (EPR) designed to improve patient outcomes and the experience of delivering care for our patients.
The solution is the direct result of the combined vision and strategic goals of:
- Isle of Wight NHS Trust (IWT)
- Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU)
- Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT)
- University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust (UHS)
The Trusts will work together with their clinical and departmental experts alongside regional digital colleagues to procure and implement a joint EPR over the coming years.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of complex software development and integration projects.
- Design, develop, test and support enterprise software applications and system integrations.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior developers and apprentices.
- Act as a senior technical resource for software development, interoperability and integration requirements.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate these into technical solutions.
- Contribute to product roadmaps, development standards and technical strategy.
- Promote Agile and DevOps methodologies within project delivery.
- Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across the Digital Service.

Specific Core Functions
Software Development and Technical Delivery
- Lead the design, development, testing and implementation of software solutions using approved technologies and development frameworks.
- Produce clean, maintainable and secure code in accordance with Trust standards and best practice.
- Design and develop scalable databases, APIs and application services.
- Participate in requirements gathering, technical design and solution specification activities.
- Undertake code reviews and provide technical assurance for solutions developed by team members.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues.
- Ensure appropriate testing, documentation and support arrangements are in place before deployment.
Integration and Interoperability
- Lead the technical implementation and support of integrations between clinical, operational and corporate systems.
- Analyse, design, build, test and deploy applications and integrations on our technology stack:
- In-house applications

- Applicants must have experience in either application development or integration development (both is desirable)

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience
- Database Experience: Ability to Read and Write complex SQL code Database Experience: Preferred: Microsoft SQL Server.
- Verifiable experience with programming and scripting required.
- Experience in a health care systems environment is desirable.
- Demonstrable ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.
Skills and Knowledge
- Must have proven applied knowledge in a combination of two or more of the following areas: XML, C#, SOAP, REST, SQL, JSON, HL7/CCDA
- Must have proven applied knowledge in CI/CD pipeline management, such as Azure DevOps
- Must have experience in managing change effectively
- Must have experience in supporting operational issues under pressure.
