IT Systems Administrator

Location: London (Hybrid)

Reporting to: Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Role Overview

We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator to support the day-to-day operation of our internal IT environment. This is a hands-on, operational role working under the direction of the CIO, focused on running, maintaining, and supporting approved systems and services.

The role is primarily centred on Microsoft 365, identity management, end-user devices, and general IT support, ensuring staff have reliable, secure, and well-supported technology.

This role is operational in nature and does not include responsibility for IT strategy, budgets, or vendor selection, which remain with the CIO.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations and Support:

· Provide day-to-day IT support across the organisation.

· Act as the primary operational point of contact for IT issues and requests.

· Log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner.

· Escalate issues appropriately and keep stakeholders informed.

· Maintain clear operational documentation and records.

Microsoft 365 and Identity Administration:

· Administer Microsoft 365 core services.

· Create, modify, and disable user accounts as part of joiner, mover, and leaver processes.

· Manage group membership and access permissions as defined.

· Support authentication, access, and account-related issues.

End-User Devices and Workplace Technology:

· Build, configure, and deploy user devices in line with approved standards.

· Support Windows laptops as the primary platform, with some macOS support.

· Set up mobile devices, peripherals, and meeting room equipment.

· Ensure new starters are fully operational on their first day.

· Perform routine patching, updates, and maintenance.

Security and Compliance Support:

· Implement security controls and configurations as directed.

· Ensure user access and devices comply with company security policies.

· Support audits, access reviews, and compliance activities.

· Report security incidents or concerns promptly.

Essential Skills / Experience / Requirements

· Right to work in the UK

· Experience in an IT support, IT operations, or systems administrator role.

· Strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.

· Strong experience supporting Windows desktop environments.

· Experience with user account management and device provisioning.

· Ability to follow direction, work to priorities, and deliver reliably.

· Clear communication skills and a service-focused mindset.

· Professionalism and discretion when handling systems and sensitive data.

· Hold or be willing to hold SC or DV clearance.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

· Experience with endpoint management tools such as Intune.

· Basic networking knowledge including Wi-Fi, VPN, and DHCP.

· Relevant Microsoft certifications (training and support can be provided), such as:

· Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Associate

· Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate

Training and Development

· £2,000 annual training allowance.

· Ongoing mentoring and guidance from the CIO.

· Support for Microsoft training and certifications.

· Exposure to Microsoft 365, Entra ID, endpoint management, and security controls.

· Salary range £40,000 to £50,000, dependent on experience.

Additional Information

· Occasional travel to other company sites may be required.

· Some out-of-hours work may be necessary for maintenance or senior user support.
