The Role

We are looking for a Lead Developer/NEC Technical Lead to take technical ownership of a core NEC platform environment within a complex public-sector or housing technology setting.

You will act as the technical authority across development, testing and production environments, ensuring high standards of system configuration, release management, integrations, data governance and overall platform performance.

The role will suit someone with strong, hands-on experience of NEC core platforms and modules, combined with the ability to manage environments, releases, integrations and technical governance.

Key Responsibilities

NEC Configuration & Environment Management

  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for NEC system configuration, ensuring modules and environments meet operational requirements.
  • Maintain configuration consistency across Development, Test, Pre-Production, Training and Production environments.
  • Identify and resolve configuration conflicts, deployment issues and environment inconsistencies.
  • Monitor system performance, health and stability across technical environments.
  • Lead technical discussions with NEC and other technology suppliers around patches, upgrades, releases and configuration changes.

Deployments & Release Management

  • Coordinate deployment schedules, maintenance windows and release sign-offs across technical and delivery teams.
  • Establish robust deployment and release processes.
  • Define and document rollback strategies for unsuccessful releases or configuration issues.
  • Lead emergency fixes and recovery procedures where required.
  • Ensure appropriate technical governance and approval is in place before production releases.

Integrations & Quality Assurance

  • Test and troubleshoot third-party APIs and bespoke integrations connected to NEC platforms.
  • Provide technical assurance and formal sign-off for integrations and configuration changes.
  • Establish quality gates and mandatory technical sign-offs throughout the configuration and release life cycle.
  • Investigate complex integration and environment issues and coordinate their resolution.

Data & Security Governance

  • Oversee data migrations involving NEC platforms.
  • Perform data quality, integrity and reconciliation checks during migration activity.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are applied when production databases are cloned or replicated into non-production and training environments.
  • Ensure sensitive information is appropriately masked and protected outside production.
  • Support good data governance and security practices across the platform estate.

Essential Experience

  • Strong, hands-on experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting NEC core platforms/modules.
  • Experience managing multiple NEC environments, including Development, Test, Pre-Production, Training and Production.
  • Strong understanding of release management, deployment processes, system patching and environment management.
  • Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting and providing technical sign-off for integrations.
  • Understanding of data migration, database cloning, data quality and data integrity processes.
  • Good understanding of data protection and security when working with production-derived data.
  • Experience working within a complex public-sector, local-government or housing IT environment.

Desirable

  • Experience working directly with NEC suppliers or support teams.
  • Experience leading technical change across large NEC estates.
  • Experience establishing technical governance, release controls and quality gates.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary development, infrastructure, data and application teams.
