Location: Hybrid, Birmingham
Contract: 3 months initially, likely to extend
IR35: Inside IR35
Rate: £400 per day

We are looking for a hands-on Site Engineer with good networking and telecommunications experience to support a major infrastructure programme.

The main focus of the role is preparing sites for PSTN replacement, as well as supporting broadband, telephony and network upgrades.

What you will be doing

• Visit sites and carry out network and telecoms surveys.
• Record existing broadband, PSTN, telephony and network equipment.
• Check services such as lift lines, fire alarms and warden call systems.
• Support PSTN, FTTP, SIP and broadband migrations.
• Install and troubleshoot network equipment such as Switches, Routers, Firewalls and Wi-Fi.
• Work with suppliers, telecoms providers and internal technical teams.
• Help resolve technical issues during project delivery.
• Keep network, site and project documentation up to date.

What we are looking for

• Good networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and switching.
• Experience with WAN, broadband or MPLS.
• Experience carrying out technical site surveys.
• Experience with Microsoft environments such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

• Fortinet
• SD-WAN
• Microsoft Teams Telephony
• Structured cabling
• PSTN, FTTP or SIP migrations
• CCNA or Network+ certifications

This is a practical role for someone who is comfortable getting out to sites, understanding existing infrastructure and helping deliver network and telecoms changes.
