Apprentice IT Engineer

Role
- Answer incoming telephone calls, take accurate messages and direct calls to the appropriate team member.
- Monitor, send and respond to emails in a professional manner.
- Welcome customers to the reception area and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Book customer equipment into the workshop and maintain accurate job records.
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing computer hardware and software faults.
- Communicate with customers regarding repairs, quotations and technical issues.
- Prepare, configure and test new computers and other IT equipment.
- Assist with stock control, including receiving deliveries, organising inventory and maintaining accurate stock records.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Learn to provide first-line technical support to business customers.
- Assist experienced engineers with installations, IT projects and system deployments.
- Attend customer sites occasionally as skills and experience develop.
Training
College attendance one day per week (Wednesday) 9.00am-1.00pm. In addition to this, approximately 4 hours of self-study and work-based evidence gathering per week will also be required.
Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity to progress into a permanent IT Support role within JLA Computer Services. The apprentice will also be supported in developing a specialist career path based on their strengths and interests, such as hardware, Microsoft 365, networking or cybersecurity.
