ABB 800xA/ Safeguard Commissioning Engineer

Commissioning Engineer - ABB 800xA / AC800M (Offshore Rotation)

Location: Overseas Offshore
Contract Length: Initial 12-month contract
Rotation: 5 Weeks On / 5 Weeks Off
Rate: £80-£90 per hour
Working Hours: 12-hour days (including travel days)

Key Responsibilities

• Commission, test and support ABB automation and control systems.
• Program, configure and modify ABB AC800M controllers.
• Work with ABB 800xA distributed control systems.
• Support and maintain Safeguard legacy systems, including programming and modifications.
• Carry out commissioning activities in accordance with project schedules and safety procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve control system issues during commissioning and start-up.
• Produce commissioning documentation and provide technical support throughout project delivery.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams to ensure successful project completion.

Essential Requirements

• Proven commissioning experience within offshore or process industry environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with ABB 800xA.
• Experience programming ABB AC800M controllers.
• Experience working with and programming Safeguard legacy systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex automation and control systems.
• Strong understanding of commissioning procedures and safe systems of work.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

• Previous offshore commissioning experience.
• Experience on oil & gas, energy, or other process industry projects.
• Relevant offshore certification (or willingness to obtain prior to mobilisation).
