Technical Project Manager
Location: Pitstone, England
Contract: 6 months
Working Pattern: Full-time, on-site
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Project Manager to join an engineering team supporting major development programmes. The role will involve taking ownership of defined work packages and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered against Quality, Cost and Schedule (QCD) objectives.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with an engineering background to work across a varied portfolio, supporting development programmes, legacy projects and continuous improvement initiatives. The role also offers a structured development pathway towards Senior Project Manager level.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver defined Work Packages against agreed QCD objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering and project teams within a matrix environment.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and work breakdown structures.
- Track project actions, risks, opportunities, dependencies and critical path activities.
- Support project cost estimation, budgeting and financial tracking.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards and governance information for senior stakeholders.
- Manage project changes, assessing their impact on scope, cost, schedule and risk.
- Support customer and stakeholder coordination, including project reviews.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and configuration records.
- Support the management and close-out of legacy and historic projects where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, lessons learned and project management best practice.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrable Project Management experience within an engineering environment.
- Strong track record of delivering projects against Quality, Cost and Schedule objectives.
- Experience managing Work Packages and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Strong planning, scheduling, risk and change management experience.
- Experience with project cost estimation, monitoring and control.
- Good understanding of structured project development and stage-gate processes.
- Degree-level qualification in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and operate effectively under pressure.
Desirable Experience
- Aerospace and/or defence project management experience.
- Experience working within a regulated engineering environment.
- Knowledge of APQP and/or AS9100.
- Experience with enterprise project management or ERP systems such as Planisware.
- Knowledge of PLM and engineering change management processes.
- APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent project management qualification.
- Agile project management experience within an engineering environment.
- French language skills would be beneficial.
