Raiser's Edge Database Manager
Job Summary
Based at the JNF UK head office in North West London, the Raiser's Edge Database Manager plays a pivotal role at an exciting time for the charity. We have ambitious plans for growth, and the way we understand, engage and steward our supporters sits at the heart of them. Raiser's Edge NXT is the engine behind that ambition, and the Database Manager is the person who keeps it running well and helps it reach its full potential.
As Database Manager you will hold overall responsibility for the management, integrity and ongoing development of our Raiser's Edge NXT CRM. It is a hands-on role that calls for strong technical expertise and close attention to detail, alongside the ability to turn data into insight that shapes fundraising across the organisation.
You will safeguard the accuracy and security of the database, lead improvements to processes and workflows, and support fundraising and marketing through effective segmentation and reporting, while maintaining full compliance with GDPR and Gift Aid requirements. Working closely with senior leadership, consultants and system providers, you will bring together the people, data and systems that allow us to grow with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Integrity
- Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and security of Raiser’s Edge / NXT
- Conduct regular audits and quality control checks to eliminate inconsistencies
- Lead data standardisation efforts for campaign assignments, constituent records, and financial reconciliation
- Implement de-duplication protocols and improve data entry processes.
Project Management & CRM Optimisation
- Lead a structured CRM improvement project in collaboration with consultants
- Develop a roadmap for database enhancements aligned with organisational goals
- Liaise with internal teams, external consultants, and Blackbaud support to implement system improvements
- Monitor and track progress against objectives, reporting to senior management.
User Support and Training
- Provide training and guidance to staff on Raiser’s Edge / NXT usage
- Monitor user practices and perform audits to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Process Documentation
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all CRM-related activities
- Ensure data entry, reporting, and appeal procedures are clearly outlined and up to date.
Data Segmentation
- Provide data segmentation for appeals and email campaigns
- Clean extracted data and identify inconsistencies such as unlinked records and duplicates
- Collaborate with fundraising and marketing teams to support campaign execution.
CRM Automation & Integration
- Improve workflow automation to reduce manual financial entry
- Manage integrations with external platforms (email marketing, finance, donations)
- Coordinate upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
Reporting, Analysis & Strategic Insights
- Generate data reports and analytics to support leadership and campaign decisions
- Provide insights into donor trends and fundraising effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with all reporting standards.
Compliance & Data Protection
- Ensure GDPR, HMRC Gift Aid, and PECR compliance in all data practices
- Work closely with JNF’s Data Protection Officer to enforce consent and data tracking best practices
- Resolve invalid Gift Aid records to maximise income and ensure compliance.
Relationship Management
- Liaise directly with donors and supporters to update records, respond to data-related queries, and maintain accurate engagement histories
- Act as the primary point of contact with Blackbaud and other CRM vendors
- Align CRM strategy with organisational priorities in coordination with senior leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrable experience managing Raiser’s Edge / NXT or similar CRM systems, database restructuring/optimisation, automation, and process improvement
- Proficiency in data management, donor segmentation, confidence in working with large datasets
- Experience in supporting charities and fundraising teams in a data role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract actionable insights
- Experience of writing process guides or other user documentation
- Expertise in GDPR, HMRC Gift Aid, and nonprofit fundraising compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
- Strong communication and training abilities
- Project management skills and the ability to multitask.
Other Information
- Office-based (North West London - NW4) Monday to Thursday, 09:00 – 17:30; Fridays finish early (13:00, 14:30 or 16:00 depending on the season)
- 20 days holiday + 8 bank holidays + main Jewish festivals when the office is closed
- Subject to a Basic Disclosure Application (DBS)
- The role may involve assisting at occasional evening or weekend events
