Senior Project Manager

Job Purpose: Senior Project Manager

To manage projects contained with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Programme. These projects will cover the implementation of the solution and manage the key change activities required for both pre and post implementation.

Principal Duties Senior Project Manager

  • To manage, develop, lead and motivate a project management team, who will help implement the ERP Programme within timescales and budget.

  • Ensure project governance is in place so that decisions are taken appropriately and in line with organisational delegations of authority. To provide project updates and detailed advice and information to the Programme Board, Programme Manager and Chief Officers, ensuring they are fully informed in programme/project progress and help them in decision making.

  • Develop, monitor and maintain project plans which identify the critical path and required resources, guiding and managing teams to deliver against the project plans.

  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and project sponsors to achieve project outcomes, ensuring excellent communications to support delivery.

  • Communicate programme and project progress, risks, and outcomes, addressing challenges collaboratively. Identify, assess and manage project risks, working with stakeholders to ensure full understanding of the risk portfolio. Manage issues and problem-solve to overcome barriers to project success.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Cardiff Council’s project management framework.

  • Leading change management activities and play a key role in implementing the change management strategy that will support the implementation of the ERP solution.

  • Support the business change lead and all business readiness planning activities.

  • Support delivery of the communication and engagement plan.

  • Complete and maintain the Change Impact Assessments.

15. Although you will be provided with a base, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role.

Led a project team to deliver and help implement ICT projects.

Experience of delivering business change.

Senior Project Manager Experience of managing, coaching, supporting and assisting others.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate well in a manner appropriate to individual needs, by phone, in person or in writing.

Demonstrates the ability to develop productive relationships with a wide range of interested groups and stakeholders.

Senior Project Manager Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team, showing a willingness to assist others and a commitment to meeting the objectives of the team.

Demonstrates the ability to lead and support others, setting clear objectives and monitoring progress.

Demonstrates the ability to manage available resources to ensure effective service delivery.

Demonstrates a good level of numeracy and literacy skills.

Possess proficient I.T. skills.
