We're working with a leading digital-first organisation that's investing in next-generation technology to enhance its customer experience platforms. As part of this journey, they're looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to play a key role in shaping the architecture, engineering practices, and delivery standards across their Digital Experience Platform (DXP) function.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, mentoring teams, and driving engineering excellence across multiple squads.

The Role

As a Staff Engineer, you'll:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across engineering squads.
  • Shape the technical roadmap, ensuring solutions align with target architecture and business strategy.
  • Lead design, implementation, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
  • Champion engineering best practices — from CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to code quality and security.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, InfoSec, and Delivery teams to ensure cohesion across the wider technology ecosystem.
  • Mentor engineers, driving capability growth and continuous improvement.
  • Tackle technical constraints, optimise performance, and manage technical debt to ensure sustainability.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Senior or Staff Engineer position, ideally within web and mobile application development.
  • Insurance Backgrounds
  • Strong hands-on expertise with React and NestJS, including API development and server-side rendering.
  • Deep understanding of micro frontend (MFE) architectures, CI/CD automation, and modern deployment pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native environments (GCP or Azure preferred).
  • Familiarity with containerisation and infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
  • Expertise in performance optimisation, caching, and monitoring.
  • A solid understanding of secure coding practices and OWASP guidelines.
  • Desirable: Exposure to Guidewire Software (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter) and mobile frameworks like Ionic Capacitor.
