Business Analyst

Business Analyst – Digital Projects, Banking, London, Contract (Outside IR35)

A commercially minded, technically fluent Business Analyst, with a software development background, is required to help shape and deliver digital banking projects for a fast-moving challenger bank. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bridge the gap between business ambition and engineering execution — translating customer, operational, regulatory and product needs into clear, deliverable requirements for agile technology teams. It is important that you have enough technical knowledge to write technical specifications as well as functional specs, user stories etc. We are not looking for someone who just understands the SDLC, but someone who has lived and breathed it as an essential part of the engineering process.

The Role

• Work closely with Product Owners, engineers, architects, operations, risk, compliance and customer teams to define and deliver digital banking features.
• Translate business problems into user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, data flows, API requirements and functional specifications and technical specifications
• Act as a credible partner to software engineering teams, bringing enough technical depth to challenge assumptions and clarify delivery options.
• Help ensure digital solutions are usable, secure, compliant and aligned to commercial outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

• A Business Analyst with a strong software engineering, software development or technical delivery background.
• Experience working on digital products, ideally in banking, fintech, payments, lending, onboarding, servicing or customer self-service journeys.
• Strong understanding of agile delivery, including user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog management and iterative delivery.
• Confidence discussing APIs, integrations, data flows, system behaviour, technical constraints and engineering trade-offs.
• Ability to work with developers day to day, turning ambiguity into clear decisions and actionable requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

This is an exciting contract role with a challenger bank where digital change is central to the business strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful customer-facing and operational improvements, collaborate very closely with engineering teams to specify, produce and build technical products, and influence how modern banking products are designed and delivered.
