Lead Project Manager
James Adams is currently looking for a Lead Project Manager to focus on complex Business Change initiatives. This is a permanent role working 2 days onsite in Birmingham 3 days from home.
The Role
The Lead Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of complex, cross functional programmes that support strategic business objectives. This role leads end to end project delivery, applying best practice methodologies and governance to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will shape, plan and deliver high impact change programmes that drive measurable business value. You will operate at all levels of seniority, providing structure, clarity and leadership across large scale transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex, strategically significant projects from initiation through to implementation and transition into business as usual.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines and resource requirements in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, financial tracking and controls to ensure delivery within agreed constraints.
- Implement and embed consistent project management frameworks, standards and governance across programmes.
- Support the development and prioritisation of change roadmaps across business functions, helping teams plan initiatives over a 12 to 24 month horizon.
- Partner with technology and operational teams to successfully implement system and process improvements.
- Identify, manage and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies across projects.
- Provide coaching, guidance and practical support to colleagues delivering their own projects, helping to build internal capability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery standards, tools and reporting.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a Lead Project Manager or senior project management role within a complex organisational environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated success delivering large scale transformation and operational improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing cross functional stakeholders and influencing at senior level.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate resources and drive accountability.
- Experience in change management and business transformation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Degree or relevant professional qualification in business, technology or a related field preferred.
- Certifications such as APM, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum or MSP are advantageous.
