Information Governance Officer (M365)

We are currently working in partnership with an organisation in Manchester, who are looking to appoint an Information Governance Officer to support with their Microsoft Purview implementation project.

This will be a full-time position based in Manchester, with 1 day per week required in the office, offering a rate of circa £250 per day via an Umbrella company.

The successful candidate must have significant experience with the Microsoft Purview system, and ideally have supported with its implementation previously, as well as excellent Information Governance experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Acting as the SME for Microsoft Information Protection and Purview
  • Implementing, refining, and managing sensitivity labels and associated governance processes
  • Defining and embedding the information governance elements of data labelling
  • Designing and managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls, particularly around the use of personal and sensitive data
  • Monitoring, investigating, and responding to information protection and data leakage incidents
  • Working closely with technical IT teams to ensure effective deployment and operation of information protection tooling
  • Providing practical guidance on secure data handling across the organisation

Experience required:

  • Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Information Protection / Microsoft Purview
  • Strong experience delivering sensitivity labelling in a live M365 environment
  • Solid understanding of information governance and data protection principles
  • Experience implementing and managing DLP policies
  • Incident management experience relating to information protection or data loss
  • Comfortable operating in a technical IT environment and engaging with multiple stakeholders

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
