Our client is a long established and highly prestigious Quantitative Trading Firm focusing on systematic low latency trading strategies. This role has arisen because of the promotion of the current Junior Desktop Engineer who is now progressing into a more specialised infrastructure engineering role within the company.
The firm is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic professional who is looking to continuously learn and progress in their career & follow the same progression path as the previous Junior Desktop Engineer
You don’t need years of experience, but you do need solid practical IT skills, a good attitude, and a willingness to learn and grow in an infrastructure-focused career. You will benefit from the support and mentorship of their world class team of senior engineers.
THE ROLE :Junior Desktop Engineer - Hedge Fund
You will be working closely with the Senior Engineers on their IT Infrastructure team in a bleeding edge High Performance Computing environment. Initially, your focus will be on resolving 1st/2nd line support tickets and assisting with projects on an ad-hoc basis. It’s ideal for someone who’s hands-on with computers and enjoys fixing problems — from setting up PCs and workstations to troubleshooting Windows/Linux issues and dealing with both physical hardware and cloud based faults.

Responsible for providing day-to-day IT support to internal users. Your objective will be solve as many issues as possible without having to escalate them

Troubleshooting Windows and Linux issues

Continue to deepen your technical knowledge by assisting Senior Engineers with Project based work

Assisting Senior Engineers with Infrastructure Administration based tasks

Supporting general infrastructure tasks as needed

Setting up PCs, desks, monitors, and peripherals (If and when required)

Moving workstations and patching network connections (If and when required)
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Junior Desktop Engineer - Hedge Fund

Minimal Experience is required- our Client is looking for someone they can mentor and develop, they are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and desire to learn and progress.

Understanding of Windows, Linux, and networking fundamentals
