Legal Engineer

Job Description

We are delighted to be partnering with a prestigious international law firm as it continues to invest in the next generation of legal delivery. Due to growth, the firm is hiring three Legal Engineers, with two aligned to the Transactions practice and one aligned to Disputes.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing Innovation team at the forefront of legal AI, working alongside some of the most respected Lawyers in the market on complex, high-value matters.

Embedded within core practice areas, you will design and build AI-enabled workflows that directly support fee earners, while helping to reimagine how legal work is performed in an AI-first environment.

Working with various stakeholders, you will play a central role in shaping how AI is deployed across both transactional and contentious workstreams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partnering with fee earners and knowledge professionals to understand how matters are run and identifying where AI can add tangible value
  • Translating legal processes into structured prompts, workflows and reusable playbooks
  • Designing, building and deploying solutions across leading AI platforms, from rapid prototyping through to production-ready tools
  • Leading on AI quality, evaluation and benchmarking across the practice
  • Acting as a bridge between legal teams, product, technology and external vendors
  • Enabling and upskilling knowledge Lawyers and wider teams through training and engagement initiatives
  • Identifying common solutions across practice areas and driving consistency and scalability
  • Contributing to wider innovation strategy and firm-wide adoption of new tools and capabilities.

Candidate profile:

  • Qualified Lawyer in England and Wales or a comparable jurisdiction
  • Typically 4 to 7 years' PQE within a leading law firm
  • Strong experience in either Transactions or Disputes, aligned to one of the hiring areas
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders on complex legal matters
  • Demonstrable interest in legal technology and AI, with hands-on experience of leading tools
  • Experience building or delivering legal-tech solutions such as workflows, playbooks or internal tools
  • Strong structuring skills with the ability to translate complex legal processes into scalable solutions
  • Clear communicator, comfortable working across legal, technical and product teams
  • Practical and delivery-focused mindset with a bias towards execution.
