Frontend Magento Developer

Magento Open Source Front-End Developer

Location: Lancashire / Hybrid

Salary: £35,000

Working Pattern: Hybrid - ideally 3 days per week on-site, with flexibility for the right candidate

We are working with a fast-growing, high-volume e-commerce business looking to appoint a Magento Open Source Front-End Developer to join its established in-house development team.

This is an opportunity to work within a complex e-commerce environment supporting a large product portfolio of approximately 15,000 SKUs across multiple B2C and B2B platforms. The business is investing significantly across its digital estate, with a major focus on improving the performance, responsiveness and overall customer experience of its Magento storefronts.

The immediate focus will be on the continued development of its Magento Open Source environment , including the implementation and development of Hyvä , alongside a wider Magento version upgrade.

The Role

Working as part of an established in-house development team, you will help develop and improve high-volume Magento websites, with a particular focus on the B2C customer experience.

The work is varied and fast-paced, ranging from new website and brand launches through to platform enhancements, bug fixes, releases and larger transformation projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing responsive, high-performing front-end experiences within Magento Open Source
  • Working extensively with Hyvä Themes
  • Supporting the ongoing development and upgrade of the Magento estate
  • Building and improving functionality across high-volume B2C e-commerce websites
  • Improving site performance, usability and Core Web Vitals
  • Translating requirements and wireframes into effective customer-facing functionality
  • Supporting new website and brand launches
  • Working closely with e-commerce, technology, ERP and development teams
  • Contributing to organic SEO and wider website performance improvements

What We're Looking For

The key requirement is strong commercial experience working with Magento Open Source from a front-end development perspective .

You should have:

  • Commercial Magento 2 / Magento Open Source development experience
  • Front-end experience within a Magento environment
  • Hands-on experience with Hyvä
  • Strong HTML and CSS skills
  • Experience developing responsive, high-performing e-commerce websites
  • An understanding of Magento themes, templates and front-end architecture
  • Experience working within B2C e-commerce environments

Experience with Alpine.js and modern JavaScript would be beneficial but is not essential.

Exposure to large product catalogues, manufacturing, warehousing, retail or other complex e-commerce environments would also be advantageous. Experience working within regulated consumer sectors would be particularly relevant.

The Environment

This is not a purely BAU website maintenance role. The wider technology function is currently delivering a significant programme of change across e-commerce, APIs, data, warehousing and retail technology.

You'll join an established development team and have exposure to a broad range of projects while playing a key role in the continued evolution of the organisation's Magento platform.

The preference is for someone able to work on-site in Lancashire around three days per week. However, there is flexibility around the hybrid arrangement for candidates with particularly strong Magento Open Source and Hyvä experience.

If you're a Magento Front-End Developer looking for an opportunity to work on a complex, high-volume e-commerce platform, we'd be keen to hear from you.
