Engineering Design Apprentice
This apprenticeship will support the Project Team at the AkzoNobel Ashington site with a particular focus on technical drawing updates, including process and electrical drawings, CAD and 3D modelling of the production facility.
Role
A key part of the apprenticeship will be developing a detailed understanding of the site's production processes, equipment and plant layout.
This will include spending time on the shop floor alongside process and maintenance technicians to understand how equipment operates in practice. A hands-on approach, curiosity and a genuine interest in understanding how things work will therefore be important.
As your knowledge and experience develop, responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the creation and updating of process and electrical technical drawings
- Developing CAD drawings and 3D models of the production facility and equipment
- Working alongside the CAD Technician and Project Manager on live engineering projects
- Gathering information from the plant and translating this into accurate technical drawings and models
- Supporting improvements to engineering documentation and drawing control
- Working with process and maintenance technicians to develop practical knowledge of plant and equipment
- Supporting the Project Management Office (PMO) with operational and strategic project activities
- Helping to improve project governance, standardise processes and improve the flow and accuracy of project information
- Supporting the planning and implementation of smaller capital projects as experience develops
