My client is a global leader in turning Market Research into actionable insights. Their UK division is a buzzing hub of around 70 talented professionals – Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Owners, and Managers – all passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with data, AI, and cloud-native platforms.
They’re not just building data pipelines – they’re building the future of advertising using modern technologies like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), real-time streaming, and machine learning.
They believe in a collaborative, supportive environment where everyone has a voice and the best ideas win. A lot of what they do involves cutting-edge AI/ML workflows, so if that’s your thing,
even better!
About the Role
I’m looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead an exceptional team of around 30 Data Engineers. This is more than just a management role – it's about mentoring, inspiring, and empowering a team of cloud-savvy engineers working across a modern GCP stack.
You’ll be a key player in shaping the company’s cloud data strategy, ensuring the delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performing data solutions using tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer (Airflow). Your work will directly power their AdTech and MarTech platforms, enabling smarter marketing decisions through high-quality data.
You’ll also work closely with Data Science and Machine Learning teams, making sure they have robust pipelines to support model development, training, and deployment.
If you're excited by the potential of cloud-native data engineering, especially in the AI/ML space, and want to make a real impact, this is the place for you.
What you’ll need
- Proven experience leading and managing Data Engineering teams, ideally in a cloud-first environment.
- Deep understanding of data engineering principles, data architecture, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with the GCP ecosystem, especially:
-BigQuery (analytics and warehousing)
-Dataflow (streaming/batch pipelines via Apache Beam)
-Pub/Sub (real-time event processing)
-Cloud Storage (data lakes)
-Cloud Composer/Airflow (orchestration and scheduling)
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with solid experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with structured and semi-structured data.
- Excellent communication skills – you can clearly articulate technical concepts to stakeholders and collaborate across distributed teams (UK-based team with global stakeholders).
- A strong passion for data, and an excitement about its application in AI/ML, automation, and intelligent decision-making.
What you’ll get
- Ownership of a mature and extensive GCP-based data platform, managed by a smart, diverse, and passionate team.
- The opportunity to take the wheel and lead cloud-first, ML-integrated data initiatives at scale.
- A collaborative environment that encourages innovation and the freedom to explore new tools, patterns, and architectures.
- A competitive package: up to £130,000 basic, 15% bonus, and great benefits.
