Trade Mark Attorney
A highly regarded Legal 500 City firm specialising in the technology, media and entertainment sectors are seeking a Trademark Attorney to join their team.
Role
You will join a Legal 500 ranked intellectual property team who advise on worldwide filing strategies and prosecute UK and international trade mark applications. The firm’s longstanding emphasis on the Technology, Media and Entertainment sectors has made it a leader in these fields and means that they often grapple with cutting edge trade mark issues, such as the protection of brands in the AI space, and innovative uses of non-traditional marks.
You will work with the firm's Head of Trade Marks, other Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys, paralegals and the wider IP team.
The team advise clients on the full range of IP issues ranging from trade mark clearance and prosecution, management of global registered trade mark portfolios, and disputes before the IPOs, as well as design registrations and maintenance.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising on registrability and cost-effective filing strategies;
- Drafting trade mark specifications;
- Conducting trade mark searches, both high-level and comprehensive;
- Co-ordinating the filing and prosecution of trade mark and design applications around the world;
- Considering and reporting watch notices;
- Handling objections and oppositions and preparing draft reports;
- Preparing evidence and legal submissions to support registration, oppositions and cancellation actions, and other disputes;
- Preparing and reviewing co-existence and other agreements;
- Instructing and co-ordinating the work of overseas attorneys;
- Handling assignment or recordal projects;
- Assisting with trade mark audits;
- Managing and reporting via client trackers;
- Helping with matter billing;
- Helping to strengthen and develop relationships with clients; and
- An enthusiasm for trade mark law.
Candidate
Please apply if you are qualified Trade Mark Attorney with a solid grounding in Trade Marks and experience from a well regarded firm. The ideal candidate will have between 0-1 years post qualification. Experience of the WebTMS database will be helpful.
