Contract - Senior SCADA / Controls Engineer - Critical Infrastructure - £70-£80 p/h - Outside IR35Senior SCADA / Controls Engineer required for an urgent 6 month contract on a critical infrastructure project, integrating generators, battery storage (BESS) and wind generation into a single automated control system. £70-£80 per hour, Outside IR35. Immediate start.
The RoleYou'll be joining a live, business critical project as a Senior SCADA/Controls Engineer, developing and supporting the automated control system that manages power generation across multiple sources on site. This is high-consequence work on infrastructure where reliability is essential, and you'll be working closely with an experienced in-house engineering team to deliver it. What You'll Be DoingDeveloping and supporting SCADA/EMS control logic integrating generators, battery energy storage (BESS) and wind generation into one automated systemWorking with an Enercon-based wind SCADA platform, coordinating closed-loop automatic control across energy sourcesBuilding HMI screens, alarm management and historical data loggingSupporting automatic transitions between generation sources, load management and diesel dispatch logicWorking to a Functional Design Specification (FDS) and contributing to its ongoing developmentLiaising directly with site engineering teams on the safe delivery of control changesWhat We're Looking ForProven, hands-on experience developing SCADA systems for power generation, renewable energy, microgrids or similar critical infrastructure environmentsStrong PLC/SCADA development background - Beckhoff TwinCAT experience highly desirableExperience integrating multiple asset types (generators, BESS, renewables) into a single control platformFamiliarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850 or OPC UAComfortable working in a high-consequence environment where errors carry real operational impactAvailable to start at short notice for a 6 month contractContract DetailsJob Title: Senior SCADA / Controls EngineerContract Length: 6 months, with potential to extendRate: £70-£80 per hour, Outside IR35Location: Aberdeen, Bromsgrove, Hull or SheffieldStart Date: ASAPThis is a genuinely niche skill set and the client needs someone in place fast.
