You’ll work closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure reliable, low-power, and scalable IoT solutions.

Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Design analogue and digital circuits for microcontroller-based systems
  • Schematic capture and multi-layer PCB design (typically 4–8 layers)
  • Component selection, derating, and lifecycle management
  • Low-power design for battery-operated devices
  • Hardware support for embedded firmware development and debug
  • Board bring-up, fault finding, and root cause analysis
  • Validation, verification, and environmental testing
  • Support EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance (CE / UKCA / FCC)

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong fundamentals in analogue and digital electronics
  • Experience designing around microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M or similar)
  • Proven experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyser, JTAG/SWD)
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and volume production

Desirable Experience

  • Wireless technologies: Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, Cellular (LTE-M / NB-IoT)
  • High-speed or sensitive analogue layout techniques
  • EMC mitigation techniques and pre-compliance testing
  • Experience taking products through certification and into mass production

What’s Offered

  • Technically focused role with real ownership of hardware design
  • Opportunity to work on complex, production IoT systems
  • Hybrid working from a York-based engineering team
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Long-term product roadmap and stable engineering environment

This role would suit an Electronics Engineer who enjoys hands-on hardware design, solving real engineering problems, and delivering reliable connected products into production.
