Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire - Hybrid

Salary: Up to £56,000 (DOE)

KO2 Recruitment is working with a well-established name in the automotive sector, looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team. The Role

You'll play a key part in designing, developing, and delivering embedded software for automotive applications, working across the full development lifecycle from concept through to production. You'll work closely with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams to deliver robust, reliable embedded solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software in C/C++ for automotive platforms
• Build and maintain real-time embedded applications using FreeRTOS
• Develop and support embedded Linux-based systems
• Debug and optimise firmware throughout the development lifecycle
• Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams
• Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of development practices

What You'll Need

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development
• Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS
• Experience working with embedded Linux
• Solid understanding of embedded development tools and methodologies
• Automotive industry experience highly desirable
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• Yocto Project experience
• Docker/containerisation experience
