KO2 are delighted to be partnering with an innovative technology company in Newcastle upon Tyne as they continue to grow their engineering team throughout 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge products used across multiple industries.

The Role

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop high-performance embedded software that controls, powers, and monitors advanced electronic systems. Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you'll design, implement, and thoroughly test embedded solutions that enable next-generation technology.

You'll primarily code in Embedded C or Modern C++, with the flexibility to use the language best aligned with your strengths and the project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software for real-time embedded systems (RTOS, Bare Metal, or Linux).
  • Design, implement, test, and debug software in Embedded C or Modern C++.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Contribute to innovative projects that advance embedded system capability.
  • Participate in design reviews and support continuous improvement of development processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Embedded Software Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and real-time programming.
  • Proficiency in Embedded C and/or Modern C++.
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols such as SPI, UART, CAN, I2C, RS232, etc.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to control loops, closed-loop systems, or control algorithm development.
  • Understanding of power electronics, motor control, or embedded software for power-driven systems.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux or hardware design is beneficial.
