DATA SERVICES ENGINEER

We’re Hiring: Data Services Engineer (Oracle APEX / Reporting / DB Support)

Location: Milton Keynes (Onsite – 5 Days per Week)

Contract: Outside IR35

Requirement: Active UK SC Clearance

About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Data Services Engineer to support a secure Defence programme based in Milton Keynes.

This is a hands-on role combining Oracle APEX development, reporting, and database support, with a strong focus on production stability and performance optimisation.

Due to the nature of the project, active UK SC Clearance is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

● Develop and maintain applications using Oracle APEX

● Design and manage reports using JasperReports or similar tools

● Write and optimise complex SQL queries

● Perform database performance tuning and troubleshooting

● Provide production support (incident management, root cause analysis)

● Monitor systems and ensure high availability of critical applications

● Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders on data requirements

Required Skills & Experience

✔ Strong experience with Oracle APEX

✔ Experience with JasperReports or other reporting platforms

✔ Advanced SQL and database performance tuning skills

✔ Proven experience in production support / live environments

✔ Familiarity with incident management processes (ITIL preferred)

Security Clearance Requirement

Active UK SC Clearance is highly desirable

Candidates without active SC clearance will also be considered, provided they:

• Are eligible for UK SC Clearance (typically requires 5 years UK residency)
• Are willing to undergo and obtain SC clearance if selected

Contract Details:

● Outside IR35

● Immediate / ASAP start preferred

● Competitive daily rate (based on experience)
