Location: Remote-based, but with regular national travel

Salary range: £60-80k

Lead and scale the national field delivery engine behind the UK's leading drainage and infrastructure intelligence platform.

KaarbonTech is transforming how the UK manages complex blue and green infrastructure assets. We combine SaaS, surveying, drainage maintenance and advisory services to help local authorities understand, prioritise and maintain critical networks — from drainage and highways to trees and greenspace.

We're the leading provider of drainage and other asset management software, supplying over 40% of authorities in England. As demand for our field services grows, we're looking for a senior operational leader who can scale nationwide delivery and modernise it through technology, data and smarter ways of working.

The role

This is a senior leadership position with real strategic ownership and day-to-day involvement. You'll set the direction for our field operations and service propositions, build a high-performing national delivery organisation, and ensure services scale profitably.

Crucially, KaarbonTech is a tech-enabled operations business — so you'll be comfortable using systems, data and automation to run high-quality delivery. You'll work closely with Product, Sales and Customer Success to continuously improve how field insight feeds our SaaS platform, and how the platform in turn drives more intelligent operational work.

You'll also stay close to the frontline: hiring, coaching managers, being visible in the field, and jumping into real delivery problem-solving when it matters.

What you'll do

• Own and evolve the national operational strategy for surveying, drainage maintenance and wider field services.
• Lead multi-disciplinary field teams across drainage surveying, drainage maintenance and tree/greenspace surveying.
• Be hands-on in building the organisation: personally oversee key hires, coach managers, and stay visible with delivery teams on site.
• Partner with Sales on scoping, pricing and mobilisation, ensuring we win work we can deliver brilliantly and profitably.
• Use technology and data to drive performance — improving scheduling, utilisation, QA, insight capture, and customer reporting.
• Embed best-in-class H&S, compliance and operational standards while keeping delivery fast, practical and customer-focused.
• Continuously improve service models and unit economics (productivity, cost-to-serve, rework, margin).

What you'll bring

• Senior operational leadership in surveying, highways maintenance or field-based services, ideally national/multi-region.
• Tech-savvy, data-led mindset: confident with SaaS platforms, field tech, operational KPIs and process automation.
• Proven success scaling dispersed field teams with strong standards on safety, quality and customer experience.
• Strong Local Authority highways / infrastructure context and stakeholder credibility.
• Commercial ownership — you've improved margins, utilisation or delivery economics without sacrificing service.
• A leadership style that's strategic and practical: comfortable in exec-level decisions and on site with teams.
• Trees/greenspace operational exposure is a bonus.
