Part-Time Legal Contracts Paralegal - Perfect for LPC/SQE Students
Birmingham 2-3 days per week
Our client is an innovative technology company operating in the Tech space offering the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on commercial law experience in their dynamic Legal Contracts Team.
About the Role:
This role is ideal for anyone studying their SQE/LLPC part time. You will work on real commercial matters, supporting with construction contracts that underpin major projects across the UK. This isn't just filing and admin, you will support with drafting clauses, interpreting legislation, and speaking directly with clients about their contractual rights and obligations.
The role will sit with the contracts team where you will:
- Draft amendments to standard construction contracts
- Review supplier agreements, subcontracts, and warranties
- Prepare contract summaries and risk matrices for internal stakeholders
- Support contract negotiations with clear, commercial advice
- Research construction law developments and case law updates
- Interpret Construction Act provisions
- Analyse contractual terms and advise on practical implications
- Prepare briefing notes on complex legal issues
- Handle telephone and email enquiries from clients on contract interpretation
- Explain legal concepts in plain English
- Participate in client meetings and contract negotiations
- Build relationships with repeat clients and understand their businesses
- Contribute to improving contract templates
Applicants must be:
- Currently studying LPC/SQE or recently completed LLB (2:1 or above preferred)
- Previous legal experience
- Some previous legal experience ideally with exposure to contracts.
- Excellent written English with ability to draft clearly and concisely
- Strong analytical skills - ability to spot issues and think commercially
- Confident communicator - comfortable speaking with senior clients
