Financial Controller
Kenny Recruit are working with a fast-growing growing UK-based IT reseller with a current turnover of around £15 million — this is just the start. Delivering innovative tech solutions to a wide range of clients, and as the business scales, we’re looking for a commercially hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function, ensuring the accuracy of the financial data, and providing insight to help drive the continued growth.
This role goes beyond traditional bookkeeping and month-end reporting — we need a system-savvy problem solver who can improve stock reconciliation, streamline processes, produce accurate and insightful management information, and help guide the company’s financial direction.
You’ll work closely with the leadership team to bring structure, control, and forward-looking analysis to the business, while ensuring day-to-day financial operations run smoothly.
You will be the sole finance person, working closely with all Directors and our Accountants
Pay: £55,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience) + benefits + performance-based bonus
Location: South West London. 3 days in the office required
Working hours: 9:00am - 5.00pm
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Control
- Own the full accounting cycle, including reconciliations, journals, accruals, and management accounts.
- Lead the Amazon sales reconciliation process, resolving issues with sporadic payments and ensuring accurate matching of revenue, fees, and VAT.
- Manage credit control and debtor management; maintain visibility over the aged debt report and drive improvements in collections.
- Oversee and reconcile the RBSIF factoring facility (invoice financing), including drawdowns and compliance reporting.
- Manage cash flow and ensure sufficient funds for payroll, supplier payments, and day-to-day operations.
- Handle ForEx discrepancies and foreign currency transactions.
- Maintain strong banking and supplier finance relationships, assessing the viability of alternative funding options.
- Ensure accurate recording and management of commissions, expenses, and company credit cards.
Systems, Stock & Process Improvements
- Drive improvements in stock management and reconciliation between SITC (Stock in the Channel), Xero, and other ERP/CRM systems.
- Collaborate with ERP/CRM providers to enhance data accuracy and train users as required.
- Introduce automation and efficiency, reducing “grunt work” such as manual invoice loading or double entry.
- Bring structure to the attribution of costs by department, establishing separate P&Ls for B2B and Trade operations.
Reporting, Analysis & Business Partnering
- Produce and improve management accounts, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Deliver insightful MI and analysis on sales, margins, stock, and overheads.
- Use Excel to its full potential – building and maintaining sophisticated financial models, dashboards, and reconciliations.
- Evaluate and challenge current performance: you’ll be provided with the latest MI (P&L and balance sheet) and expected to give your professional opinion on our financial “state of play” and your proposed priorities.
- Support business planning, financial forecasting, and scenario modelling.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee VAT compliance including import/export, reverse charge, and postponed VAT.
- Support external accountants/auditors with year-end preparation.
- Maintain accurate records and implement robust internal controls.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide guidance, training, and support across departments to enhance financial understanding.
- Liaise closely with the leadership team to align finance with operational and commercial goals.
- Contribute ideas and perspectives on the adoption of AI in finance, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Requirements:
Experience & Skills
- Part or fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE with strong SME experience
- Strong experience with Amazon marketplace accounting and reconciliation
- Knowledge of factoring (RBSIF preferred)
- Proven track record of improving stock and ERP/CRM processes
- Outstanding Excel proficiency – modelling, pivot tables, lookups, Power Query, macros (bonus)
- Solid grasp of VAT, imports/exports, and reverse charge
- Excellent communicator and team leader
- Commercially astute, analytical, and proactive
- An advantage is expert-level Xero skills and understanding of integrations
