Job summary

Location: Hybrid - Minimum of three days a week at Cudmore House and home working

Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to support the delivery of high-quality reporting and insights across all Kernow Health CIC services and system partners within Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly.

The postholder will play a key role in transforming complex data into meaningful insights, using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and related technologies to support clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation and system partners, you will help improve service performance and patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

This role is primarily focused on data analysis and reporting, with opportunities to contribute to wider digital and IT initiatives as part of a collaborative team. It is well suited to an analyst who enjoys problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and developing impactful visualisations.

Job responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports (using Power BI) to support performance monitoring and service improvement
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating findings into clear, actionable insights
  • Respond to scheduled and ad hoc data requests, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned to stakeholder needs
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and system partners (e.g. ICB, CIOS system partner organisations) to support consistent and meaningful reporting
  • Support the improvement of data quality by identifying anomalies, reconciling outputs, and contributing to robust validation processes
  • Extract, manipulate, and transform data from a variety of sources using tools such as Excel and Power Query
  • Contribute to the development and automation of reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload
  • Present data and insights in a clear and accessible way to a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage and prioritise workload effectively, working independently and as part of a team
  • Contribute to wider digital and IT initiatives within the Data and IT function
  • Provide occasional support with system administration tasks or user queries, as required
  • Participate in service improvement and transformation projects across the organisation
  • Maintain awareness of relevant policies, data governance standards, and best practice in data analysis

You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties, as directed by your line manager.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development or willingness to learn new tools and techniques
  • Experience using business intelligence tools such as Power BI (including data modelling, dashboards, and visualisation)
  • Experience working in a healthcare, NHS, or other regulated environment
Desirable
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools (e.g. Power Query, DAX, SQL)
  • Understanding of data visualisation principles and insight presentation
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and information security principles

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent experience in a data analysis role
Desirable
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft Data Analyst Associate or similar)
