Background
The Early Childhood Funders Partnership, is a group of organisations investing in early childhood development (ECD) is seeking a part-time Coordinator (consultant/freelance) to provide logistical, communications, and operational support to a newly forming funder coordination initiative.
Last year, over 30 funders came together to explore how they might improve the effectiveness, equity, and transparency of ECD funding. A programme of activity to help funders align resources, share learning, and collaborate strategically was developed and is in progress (an example output from the partnerships’ work can be found here: A part-time Partnership Manager is already in post to lead on relationships, strategy, and coordination. The Coordinator will assist the Manager and the partnership by delivering the digital infrastructure, communications and project support that underpins this work.
Purpose of the Consultancy
The Coordinator will provide essential inter-personal, logistical, and digital support to ensure the smooth operation of the funder network. This includes overseeing communications systems, event logistics, online surveys, managing contact databases, and supporting the development of a new online platform and web presence for funder collaboration.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that requires someone highly organised, technically confident, data-driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas:
1. Technical & Digital Infrastructure
- Manage and update digital tools (e.g. contact database, surveys, shared drives, cloud-based folders)
- Support the development and delivery of an online platform to link funders with co-funding opportunities, and to increase equity in access to funding for charities and other applicants
- Support the development of a partnership website (working with the manager, funder task group and a web developer as needed)
- Support updates to a funder mapping database and visualisation tools (based on Excel/Survey outputs)
2. Project Coordination & Administration
- Provide logistical support for events (e.g. online meetings, in-person workshops, new member induction)
- Maintain project trackers, timelines, and communications
- Ensure documentation is up to date and easily accessible
- Work closely with the Manager to coordinate day-to-day activities and member communications including a monthly newsletter
- Take notes and follow up on secretariat tasks such as coordinating and sharing information, for the bi-monthly Steering Group (in-person); the quarterly Learning and Networking Meetings (in-person); and any additional events or meetings of the partnership
3. Communications & Engagement Support
- Draft and send regular partner updates and newsletters
- Help manage contact lists and ensure GDPR compliance
- Create and edit PowerPoint materials and partner briefs
- Support the collation of information for external communications (e.g. public version of the evidence review, LinkedIn and other media announcements)
- Contribute updates and reports to the partnership’s steering group
4. Monitoring & Learning
- Support data collection via online surveys
- Collate and present findings to feed into the partnership’s learning framework
- Help develop templates and processes for capturing learning and progress
Consultant Requirements
Essential
- Strong technical skills including use of contact databases, survey platforms (e.g. Typeform/Google Forms), and collaborative tools (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, shared calendars)
- Proven project management experience
- Experience in setting up and managing websites and digital platforms (working with developers where necessary)
- Strong organisational, time management skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent relationship-management skills
- Comfortable working remotely and independently with minimal supervision
- Alignment with the mission of the partnership
Desirable
- Experience supporting non-profits, funder collectives, or collaborative initiatives
- Understanding of philanthropy, early childhood, or the social sector
- Experience with project management tools
Contract Details
- Start date: As soon as possible (from August 2025)
- Duration: Initial 3-month contract with potential to extend up to 3 more months. (The contract will be hosted by Collective Futures, on behalf of the funder partnership)
- Time commitment: Estimated at 2 days per week (approx. 8 days per month) – flexible depending on workflow.
- Rate: £300–£350/day depending on experience
- Location: Remote, but must be available to attend occasional in-person meetings in London (approximately twice a month)
- Contract type: Self-employed consultant; responsible for own tax and insurance
- Notice period: 1 month
- Consultants must be based in the UK and have Right to Work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship)
