Head of Legal (Founding Hire) – AI/Frontier Technology

We’re working with a highly respected, mission-driven research organisation operating at the forefront of advanced AI systems.

They are now hiring their first Head of Legal, a rare opportunity to build a legal function from scratch within a deeply technical, high-impact environment.

The role:

• Be the first in-house lawyer

• Own commercial, corporate, fundraising & compliance

• Design legal strategy, frameworks, and playbooks from first principles

• Partner closely with leadership on mission-critical decisions

• Operate across UK, US, and EU as the company scales

We’re looking for:

• ~8+ PQE (in-house or top-tier firm)

• Strong commercial + generalist legal skillset

• Someone who can switch between strategy and execution seamlessly

• A builder who thrives in ambiguity and high-growth environments

• Genuine interest in AI / emerging technology / mission-driven work
