Senior Legal Counsel

A well-established global technology and IT services business is hiring a senior legal leader to build out legal support for its growing portfolio of new services and solutions. The role covers legal and regulatory input on emerging offerings across areas such as cloud infrastructure, managed services, sustainability, and digital workplace technology, working closely with the wider General Counsel's office and senior stakeholders across the business.

You'll lead a small legal team, act as a trusted advisor to commercial and product leadership, and help the organisation move at pace as it launches new services into the market internationally.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as lead legal advisor to the services and solutions organisation, covering a broad mix of regulatory and commercial issues
  • Building and leading a legal team dedicated to supporting new product and services development
  • Guiding legal and compliance input into new software, solutions, and managed service offerings from concept through to launch
  • Working with commercial teams to shape new propositions and support their rollout across multiple markets
  • Coordinating with internal and external counsel, subject-matter experts, and business stakeholders as needed
  • Partnering with legal colleagues in other regions to make sure they're equipped with the right training and resources to support the same offerings locally
  • Spotting legal and regulatory issues early and bringing in the right specialist expertise from across the legal function
  • Bringing in outside counsel support where internal resource needs supplementing
  • Creating standard contract templates and reusable legal frameworks to speed up how new offerings get to market
  • Setting up a clear, repeatable process for how legal and product/service teams engage with each other

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years' corporate/commercial legal experience
  • A background leading a legal team that supports new solutions, services, SaaS, or software development
  • Experience from a national or international law firm, or as in-house commercial counsel within a large global company
  • Experience setting up systems or processes to track legal advice and monitor services over their lifecycle
  • Strong track record of monitoring new laws and regulations and translating them into practical compliance guidance
  • Sound commercial judgement and strong problem-solving ability
  • The gravitas and confidence to advise senior leadership directly
  • Skilled at spotting, managing, and mitigating legal risk
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Calm under pressure and a strong collaborator
