Senior Legal Counsel - Media (IT, IP & AI)
We are seeking a commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to join a dynamic, fast-growing and creative SaaS business. This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a technology-led organisation developing cutting-edge products. You will work closely with engineering, product and commercial teams, providing pragmatic legal advice on complex technology matters while supporting innovation and responsible growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on complex technology licensing, SaaS and commercial agreements with enterprise customers and strategic partners.
- Provide legal support across IT operations, including infrastructure, cloud and key vendor arrangements.
- Advise on intellectual property strategy, protection and licensing.
- Support the business on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and data use.
- Provide guidance on data privacy and data governance.
- Work closely with engineering and product teams, translating technical concepts into clear, practical advice for the wider business.
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks while enabling commercial growth.
- Help develop scalable legal processes, templates and best practices.
Skills and Experience
- Qualified lawyer with approximately 6–12 years’ PQE.
- Strong private practice training with some in-house experience in a technology-focused organisation highly desirable.
- Significant experience in technology, IP and IT-related legal matters.
- Strong track record negotiating complex commercial contracts and technology licensing agreements.
- Experience advising on open source software licensing and compliance.
- Good working knowledge of APIs and technology integrations.
- Working knowledge of AI technologies, including an understanding of associated legal and commercial risks.
- Solid understanding of data privacy frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and translate technical concepts into clear, business-friendly advice.
- Commercial, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
