Technology Lawyer - IP/IT

We are working with an innovative and fast-growing technology company operating at the forefront of a cutting-edge digital industry. The business partners closely with leading organisations in the media and entertainment space and is looking to hire an experienced Technology Lawyer (5-10 years PQE) to join its in-house legal team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex technology and IP matters while collaborating closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams. You will play a key role in supporting the development and deployment of new technologies, including regularly reviewing and advising on emerging AI tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of technology and commercial agreements, including software licensing, SaaS agreements, and technology partnerships
  • Advising on intellectual property, licensing structures, and IP protection strategies
  • Supporting the business on matters relating to source code agreements, API integrations, and other technical commercial arrangements
  • Working closely with engineering and product teams to provide practical, business-focused legal advice on technology development and implementation
  • Reviewing and assessing AI tools and emerging technologies from a legal, regulatory, and risk perspective
  • Leading negotiations with customers, partners, and vendors on complex technology contracts
  • Advising internal stakeholders on risk management, compliance, and best practice in technology contracting

Key Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer (5-10 years PQE) with strong experience in IT and intellectual property law
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating technology licensing agreements
  • Good understanding of source code arrangements, APIs, and software development environments
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, product teams, and technical stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in-house or advising SaaS or technology companies would be highly advantageous
  • Interest in emerging technologies and AI
