Technology Lawyer (IT, IP & AI)

We are seeking an experienced Technology Lawyer to join our clients growing legal team within a dynamic software business based in London. This role will support cutting-edge product development, including AI-driven solutions, and requires a commercially minded lawyer with deep expertise in IT, intellectual property, and technology licensing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on a wide range of technology matters, including software development, SaaS offerings, cloud services, and emerging AI products.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including software licensing, SaaS agreements, APIs, data sharing, and partnership contracts.
  • Provide strategic guidance on intellectual property rights, including ownership, protection, and commercialization of software and AI innovations.
  • Support the business on AI-related legal and regulatory developments, ensuring compliance with evolving frameworks and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and technical teams to understand product architecture and translate technical concepts into legal risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain scalable legal frameworks for licensing and distribution models across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advise on data protection, cybersecurity, and technology risk issues in coordination with internal stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • 5 years PQE qualified lawyer in England & Wales (or equivalent), with significant post-qualification experience in technology law.
  • Strong background in IT law, intellectual property, and software licensing (including SaaS and enterprise licensing models).
  • Demonstrable experience advising on AI technologies or a strong, genuine interest in artificial intelligence and its legal implications.
  • Proven ability to work closely with software engineers and technical teams on a regular basis, with confidence engaging in technical discussions.
  • Commercially focused, with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Experience in a fast-paced technology or software environment (in-house preferred, but not essential).
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
