Head of Analytics
Job summary
The Head of Analytics provides expert leadership of the Trust's analytics function, acting as the senior specialist in data interpretation, advanced analytical methods, and insight generation. The role requires high-level technical capability in SQL, Power BI, statistical methods, and data modelling, alongside experience in managing analytical teams and driving organisation-wide data strategy. This senior post leads the development of predictive analytics, rationalises reporting processes, and introduces emerging analytical tools to support strategic decision-making across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Leads on the Trusts analytics, internal reporting and insight generation
- To provide leadership of the organisation's analytics function, which will include the day-today management of the Analytics team.
- To have complete knowledge of existing Data Set Changes Notices (DSCNs) and Information Standard Notices (ISNs) that pertain to the Divisions/Clusters ensuring that knowledge is accurately and efficiently shared with peers in the department and relevant stakeholders.
- To communicate and liaise with clinicians, service managers, commissioning on complex analytics issues.
- Financial responsibility for the allocated budgets of the Analytics team.
- Regularly review the type and nature of support provided by the Analytics team to ensure appropriateness of activities, effectiveness and efficiency.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to Master's degree level in a numerate/quantitative discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience and competencies in relevant or similar roles
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- IT, Information or statistical qualification
Experience
- Knowledge of working with health information systems, with ability to keep fully informed about emerging technology through horizon scanning and networking.
- Knowledge of NHS Information requirements including extensive knowledge of NHS Data Definitions, Standards, Data Manual and statutory requirements.
- Experience of staff management including personal development reviews and recruitment.
- Demonstrate the ability to solve problems and make decisions within the parameters of the job role e.g. assessing and dealing with queries relating to information.
- Working knowledge and experience of SPC charts, technical data models, writing DAX queries, creating calculations and measures, bespoke functions and integrating multiple data sources in Power BI.
Skills
- Ability to analyse, investigate and resolve complex problems and queries and present to non-technical audiences
- Highly developed knowledge of MS SQL Business Intelligence tools and Power BI.
