Job summary

South West London (SWL) is embarking on an exciting Imaging Digital Transformation Programme to modernise and enhance imaging services across our Acute Trusts. This programme will play a pivotal role in delivering unified digital imaging solutions that support clinical productivity and excellence, operational efficiency and improved patient care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as the Imaging Digital Solution Architect and Testing Lead within the SWL Diagnostics Programme, part of SWL Acute Provider Collaborative (APC). The SWL APC comprises four acute hospital Trusts: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated, competent, experienced individual to join our team and contribute to this ambitious programme with the appropriate knowledge and experience of digital solutions within Imaging (Radiology). This role is key to ensure the successful digital delivery, transformation and innovation across the SWL Imaging Network

Job description

Job responsibilities

As the Imaging Digital Solution Architect and Testing Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the programme objectives and key deliverables as detailed below:

1. Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Technical and Infrastructure elements, including strategy development, enterprise design, image migration, and testing activities.2. Lead the coordination, development, preparation and implementation of the technical workstream to agreed milestone delivery dates, resolving issues, and initiating corrective action as appropriate.3. Ensure effective collaboration and communication across all stakeholders both internal and external facilitating alignment between technical teams, suppliers, and clinical services

Essential Criteria we are looking for in the ideal candidates are summarised below:

  • Strong understanding of NHS digital systems, with specific experience in radiology and imaging services and solutions, including RIS and PACS
  • Developing and writing system designs, plans, test scripts and reports
  • Technical, Clinical and/or operational background in radiology services
  • Excellent programme and project management skills, including:
    • Develop and manage project plans, including risk and issue registers
    • Produce highlight and board-level reports, support programme delivery and governance
    • Strong communicative, administrative and organisational skills

You should be educated to Masters level or equivalent experience with extensive expertise in programme delivery, transformation, and operational implementation

Additional Notes: This is a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to be extended further. Candidates currently working within the NHS will be offered an opportunity on a secondment basis only.

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential
  • Education to degree level in IT or related discipline
Desirable
  • Masters level education or ISTQB Certification

Experience

Essential
  • Experience and proven record of success of acting as the Solution Architect for a large EPR or Order Comms programme at least one large Acute Trust
  • Can absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Has a broad understanding of all aspects of IM&T and deep understanding of areas of specialisation.
Desirable
  • Experience of working across NHS acute collaborations
  • Information Analyst experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential
  • Specialist knowledge and awareness of the delivery of enterprise RIS and PACS platforms.
  • Ability to analyse, synthesise and interpret highly complex data, filtering and interpreting often conflicting information
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of delivering Diagnostic change programmes with digital acting as a key enabler
