Pre-Sales Architect

Our mission is simple: to design and deliver high performance, integrated ERP solutions that enable our distributive trade customers to source effectively, stock efficiently, sell profitably and service competitively This role focuses on technical solution design and accurate pricing for cloud services, ensuring that what we propose to customers is technically sound and scoped appropriately for delivery. Working closely with the Sales Executive, you will help shape proposals for Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and related platforms, aligning customer needs with our service offerings. You'll engage during early-stage discussions, lead on solution definition, and support internal handover to project and engineering teams.
- Solution Scoping & Design
- Translate customer requirements into technically accurate Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Scope infrastructure across AVD, IaaS, PaaS, DR, networking, identity, and SQL workloads.
- Map customer needs to our services (e.g. Managed Azure, Managed 365, SQL optimisation).
- Collaborate with operations and implementation teams to validate feasibility.
- Azure & Microsoft 365 Pricing Support
- Build structured cloud cost estimates using standard tools and pricing calculators.
- Understand subscription models (PAYG, reserved capacity, license-based services).
- Assist with selecting the right licensing models, SKUs, and add-ons for Microsoft 365.
- Document pricing assumptions and ensure clear presentation for proposals.
- Sales Collaboration
- Work alongside the Sales Executive during discovery and proposal development.
- Join customer meetings where deeper technical input is required.
- Prepare solution overviews, diagrams, and platform summaries for customer-facing proposals.
- Provide input on packaging or bundling based on scope and platform fit.
- Partner & Supplier Engagement
- Work with cloud distributors to gather pricing, technical configurations, and available service options.
- Track changes in cloud licensing models, SKUs, or ordering processes.
- Coordinate with external presales or technical advisors when needed to support solution design.
- Internal Handoff & Documentation
- Document the technical solution clearly for internal delivery handover.
- Ensure handovers include assumptions, technical design, licensing selections, and costed bill of materials.
- Highlight any areas requiring specialist input (e.g. security, networking, SQL performance).
- 3+ years in a technical pre-sale, cloud architect, or consultancy role within an MSP or cloud service provider, with demonstrable pre-sales activity experience with 100-1,000 user environments.
- Strong experience in Microsoft Azure pricing and commercials
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 licensing models and common business workloads.
- Experience producing technical solution documentation and cloud cost estimates.
- Confident working with cloud cost calculators, design templates, and proposal inputs.
- Bonus: understanding of endpoint management, workflow automation or ERP infrastructure support.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure & Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Expertise in Azure IaaS & PaaS, including virtual machines, networking (VPNs, ExpressRoute, NSGs), storage, and backup solutions.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365, onboarding, and security configurations.
- Expertise in Windows Server and SQL Server administration
- Knowledge of Azure security, governance, and compliance (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Conditional Access, PIM).
- Familiarity with cost management and Azure Lighthouse for multi-tenant environments.
- Experience with PowerShell and automation tools (e.g., Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Infrastructure as Code) is a plus.
- Strong customer-facing skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to delivering solutions.
- Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with sales, pre-sales, and operations teams.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying updated on Microsoft cloud technologies.
