Azure Migration Specialist

We're looking for an Azure Migration Specialist, ideally on a 6 month FTC (up to £95K), but contract considered £300-500 a day

The role is based in Lancashire, with some UK travel possible. How often the role is office based is determined by location.

As Azure Migration Specialist, you'll:

  • Lead end-to-end migration projects: assessing on-premises/multi-cloud environments and planning migrations to Microsoft Azure.
  • Define migration strategies (lift-&-shift, re-platform, refactor) and deliver Azure landing zones, governance, security and network design.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, application owners and operations teams to ensure high-availability, scalability & cost-efficiency.
  • Drive automated migration pipelines (ARM/Bicep/Terraform), CI/CD in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitor, optimise and hand-over migrated workloads with operational runbooks.
  • Provide thought leadership: share best practice, mentor junior engineers and help shape the Azure practice.

Who we're looking for:

  • Proven experience migrating enterprise workloads into Azure (≥ 3-5 years) with strong Azure architecture skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure services (VMs, Azure SQL/Managed Instance, App Services, AKS, Azure Networking, Identity) and best practices around security, governance and cost-management.
  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell, Terraform/ARM/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines and automation of migration tasks.
  • Solid understanding of networking (VNets, ExpressRoute, VPN), hybrid connectivity and cloud infrastructure patterns.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management: you'll need to translate technical concepts into business value and to cross-functional teams.

  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
  • Azure Migration & Modernisation Specialty (AZ-700/AZ-500 optional)
  • Experience with Windows/Linux server migration, SQL database migration, or application modernization.
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
  • Prior experience delivering short-term or consultancy-based migration projects
