Data Scientist

About the role

As a Senior Data Scientist at Konfir, you will lead efforts to analyse and interpret large datasets, extracting meaningful insights that drive strategic decision-making for our clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and operations to design, build, and deploy scalable data-driven solutions.

You will use your expertise in statistical modelling, machine learning, and data engineering to develop, deploy, and maintain predictive models in production environments. This includes ensuring observability, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of deployed models. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, tackle complex challenges, and make a measurable impact on the company's growth.

Although no two days are the same, you will be expected to:

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and relationships in large datasets.
  • Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to optimise business processes, improve customer experience, and drive revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Clean, transform, and preprocess data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Perform feature engineering, selection, and transformation to enhance model performance and interpretability.
  • Train, validate, and fine-tune machine learning models using appropriate techniques and algorithms.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of models to ensure robustness, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to deploy models into production environments and monitor their performance.
  • Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and data visualisations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Work autonomously on projects from start to finish, and be responsible for the code you write. You build it, you run it.

About you

We need curious and innovative minds, who can create seamless end-to-end experiences for our various users. We need someone who can perform in cross-functional teams and wear multiple hats across R&D, Product, Software Engineering, and data engineering.

If that sounds like you, then we'll also need you to have:

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist, developing and implementing machine learning models and strategies.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or similar tools for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques, such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time series analysis, and clustering.
  • A deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques and their applications to real-world problems.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g. Pytorch, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn) for model development and deployment.
  • Experience using LLMs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of the trade off between long term initiatives and tactical changes
  • Strong testing practices.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication
  • (Desirable) Experience with AWS stack
  • (Desirable) Familiarity working with transactional data like banking transactions, financial systems, and regulatory compliance.

Our stack

  • We are language agnostic; there are many ways to solve the same problem. We do, however, have an emphasis on Python and Node.
  • Backend: Python, pandas, numpy
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform
