Android Engineer

Contract: Initial 12 Month Contract
Location: London (Hybrid, 3 Days per Week in Office)
Day Rate: Up to £400 per day (Inside IR35)

Our client is looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join a leading mobile engineering function delivering products to millions of users globally. This role will focus on developing high-quality Android applications within a collaborative, agile environment using modern engineering practices and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain modern Android applications.
• Build scalable, performant solutions using contemporary Android technologies.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA and engineering teams throughout the development life cycle.
• Write clean, maintainable and testable code.
• Debug, optimise and enhance application performance.
• Develop and maintain automated testing solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Support the modernisation of existing Android applications and services.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial Android development experience.
• Excellent Kotlin development skills.
• Experience with modern Android architecture patterns.
• Strong understanding of Android frameworks and Jetpack components.
• Experience integrating REST APIs.
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming approaches including Coroutines or RxJava.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control systems.
• Strong testing, debugging and performance optimisation capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in agile teams.
