Job Title: ServiceNow CMDB Consultant

Job Summary

The ServiceNow CMDB Consultant is responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This role ensures accurate, reliable, and actionable configuration data to support IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Asset Management, and broader enterprise service workflows.

The consultant works closely with stakeholders across IT, security, and operations to define data models, governance, and processes that align with business objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
CMDB Design & Implementation

Design and implement CMDB data models aligned with business and technical requirements

Configure CI classes, attributes, relationships, and reconciliation rules

Implement and maintain CMDB Health Dashboards (Completeness, Correctness, Compliance)

Define and enforce CMDB governance, policies, and standards

Discovery & Data Integration

Configure and manage ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping

Integrate CMDB with third-party systems (eg, SCCM, AWS, Azure, monitoring tools)

Ensure accurate data population through automated and manual data sources

Manage identification and reconciliation (IRE) rules

Optimization & Continuous Improvement

Analyze CMDB health metrics and implement remediation strategies

Identify data quality issues and drive corrective actions

Support CI life cycle management and dependency mapping

Optimize CMDB usage to support ITSM, ITOM, SecOps, and Asset Management use cases

Stakeholder Collaboration

Engage with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements

Provide guidance on CMDB best practices and ServiceNow standards

Support audits, compliance initiatives, and reporting needs

Deliver documentation, training, and knowledge transfer

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills

Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB

Solid understanding of CI life cycle, relationships, and dependency mapping

Experience with ServiceNow Discovery and/or Service Mapping

Knowledge of Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE)

Familiarity with ITIL practices, especially Configuration Management

Professional Experience

3+ years of ServiceNow platform experience (adjustable by seniority)

Proven experience implementing or supporting CMDB in complex environments

Experience working in consulting or enterprise IT environments
