Leon Cycle is an international e-bike business founded in Germany in 2014, with operations across more than 10 countries in Europe, North America, and APAC.

We design, manufacture, and sell a wide range of electric bicycles, including mountain bikes, trekking bikes, folding e-bikes, and step-through models. Our products are sold through multiple channels, including our own e-commerce websites, global and local online marketplaces, dealer networks, and Leon Cycle–operated retail stores worldwide.

With continued global expansion and strong growth momentum, we are now seeking a Director of Information Technology to join our London headquarters and support our rapidly scaling digital and operational landscape.

Role Overview

The Director of Information Technology will play a critical role in designing, integrating, and operating Leon Cycle's global business application landscape, with a strong focus on e-commerce, sales, inventory, logistics, and data integration.

This role acts as a bridge between business teams and technology, ensuring that systems across regions, platforms, and partners are connected, scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs. The position requires both solution-level ownership and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

Business Applications & Systems Ownership

• Manage, plan, and continuously optimize global business applications supporting Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, and HR

• Own the application landscape including but not limited to:

• E-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify and local country websites)

• Online marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, and country-specific platforms)

• Dealer ordering systems (B2B portals)

• POS systems and retail store applications

• CRM, BI, and reporting systems

• Customer service systems (ticketing, omnichannel support tools)

• Finance systems and payment platforms

• HR and internal OA systems

System Integration & Data Connectivity

• Design and manage end-to-end system integrations across regions and platforms, including:

• Sales, order, and inventory data synchronization between Shopify, marketplaces, and ERP

• Inventory integration with multiple 3PL providers across Europe and North America

• Integration of global and local payment methods (PSPs, marketplaces, refunds, reconciliation)

• Dealer order flow from B2B systems to ERP, warehouse, and finance

• Customer service data integration across countries and channels

• Ensure real-time or near real-time visibility of sales, inventory, and fulfillment data for HQ and regional teams

Project Management & Vendor Coordination

• Lead IT application–related projects from requirement gathering to delivery, including system rollouts, migrations, and enhancements

• Work closely with external IT vendors, developers, and SaaS providers, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget

• Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams (e-commerce, sales, logistics, finance, customer service, HR) to translate business needs into system solutions

• Manage project timelines, risks, documentation, testing, and go-live support

Solution Design & Hands-on Implementation

• Translate business requirements into system architecture, technical design, and implementation plans

• Perform hands-on work including information gathering, documentation, configuration, development support, testing, and troubleshooting

• Actively support and maintain e-commerce platforms and connected systems during daily operations

• Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and usability

Security, Compliance & Data Governance

• Ensure application security and data protection in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR)

• Define and enforce data access controls, system permissions, and security best practices

• Support audits, compliance checks, and internal controls related to IT systems and data

Who You Are

Experience & Technical Background

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent

• 10+ years of experience in a similar IT solution, application management, or system integration role

• Hands-on coding experience using Java, PHP, JavaScript / HTML / CSS, Node.js

• Strong understanding of ERP, CRM, and business platforms, including configuration of workflows, formulas, and process automation

• Proven hands-on experience with retail and e-commerce systems, such as:

• Shopify or similar platforms

• Online marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, etc.)

• POS systems, store portals, and mobile retail apps (PDA / iPad)

Skills & Mindset

• Strong solution architecture and system integration mindset

• Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives in a fast-paced, international environment

• Comfortable working with both technical teams and business stakeholders

• Hands-on, ownership-driven, and pragmatic approach to delivery

• Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
