Position: Legal Counsel

Role Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Location: Cambridgeshire (Hybrid working | 3 days office based)

Salary guide: £60,000 - £75,000 per annum, plus bonus and benefits

We are delighted to be exclusively partnering with an innovative global technology business to recruit a Legal Counsel into its growing in-house legal team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded solicitor looking to broaden their in-house experience within a highly collaborative legal function. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will play a key role in advising on a wide variety of commercial matters across the UK business, while also supporting international operations.

The Opportunity

The role is heavily focused on drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, while partnering closely with stakeholders across sales, procurement, finance, HR, operations and R&D.

You will advise on a broad range of agreements including:

  • Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
  • Commercial supply agreements
  • Procurement and supplier terms & conditions
  • Intellectual property and technology licensing agreements
  • Distribution agreements
  • Research & Development (R&D) agreements

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business.
  • Support commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers and strategic partners.
  • Advise on procurement, supply chain and technology related contractual arrangements.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical advice on emerging legal issues.
  • Support cross-functional teams including Commercial, Finance, HR, Operations and R&D.
  • Support the business on intellectual property matters, including the commercialisation, licensing and protection of technology and innovation.
  • Review, draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, including technology licensing and technology transfer arrangement
  • Assist with M&A activity, including due diligence, confidentiality arrangements and transaction support.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and help implement practical compliance solutions.
  • Support compliance initiatives across areas including data protection, AML and anti-fraud.
  • Identify opportunities to improve legal processes, templates and the use of AI-enabled legal technology.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who are:

  • Qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales or in the process of qualifying via SQE, ideally with between 2 - 7 years’ experience (applications outside this range with relevant experience will also be considered).
  • Strong experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Experience of intellectual property, technology licensing or other IP related matters would be highly advantageous.
  • Prior In-House experience with a commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
