Lead Business Analyst (Data & Reporting - London Market)

Role Overview-
Strategic Bridge: Act as the primary interface between core business functions-Underwriting, Claims, and Actuarial-and technical Data Engineering teams.

Domain Leadership: Navigate the complex London Market data landscape to define and champion reporting solutions that drive competitive advantage.

Requirement Ownership: Lead the end-to-end requirement lifecycle, moving beyond simple gathering to deep analysis and strategic alignment.

Team Influence: Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Business Analysts, ensuring consistency across all data workstreams.

Stakeholder Management: Liaise directly with Underwriting Chairs, Claims Directors, and Chief Actuaries to extract and refine high-level reporting needs.

HLRS Documentation: Translate ambitious business goals into rigorous High-Level Requirement Specifications (HLRS) and actionable user stories.

Data Standards Analysis: Perform deep-dive analysis into London Market standards, including ACORD, MRC, and Bureau messaging, to ensure data accuracy.

Strategic Roadmapping: Assist in defining the "To-Be" reporting landscape, supporting Solvency II, Lloyd's PDR, and internal performance analytics.

Quality Assurance: Lead and mentor a team of BAs, establishing best practices for documentation and business analysis within the data domain.

Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the London Market lifecycle, including Placement, Premium, Claims, and Reinsurance.

Specialty Class Nuance: Familiarity with the specific data challenges inherent in Specialty insurance classes.

Reporting Toolset: Experience with BI and data platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Snowflake.

Functional Insight: Clear understanding of how Underwriters use data for risk selection and how Actuaries utilize it for reserving and pricing.

Analytical Rigour: Proven ability to perform data profiling and gap analysis to ensure underlying data structures support reporting outputs.

Experience: Minimum of 10 + years as a Business Analyst within the London Market or Specialty Insurance industry.

Leadership: Demonstrable experience leading or managing a team of BAs is highly desirable.

Workflow Mastery: Strong grasp of front-to-back insurance workflows (Underwriting through to Claims and Actuarial).

Communication: Ability to influence and manage high-level or "difficult" stakeholders effectively.

Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency in creating BRDs and HLRS; experience using SQL for data interrogation is a plus.
