Director, Tooling & Data

About The Role
The Group Investment Management (GIM) is hiring for a Director of Tooling to lead the product management of our Clarity / PPM tooling and data insights for our investments. The role will lead define and drive the tooling strategy and its implementation. The role requires Clarity / Plan view product experience or experience of similar Portfolio Management tools on the market.
This leader will play a meaningful role in crafting how our global teams plan, manage and complete work across the organisation, ensuring alignment with Group standards, transparency in delivery, effective tool governance and enabling the shift to product in our tooling.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for Clarity or any standard PPM tooling
  • Lead the implementation of any new/existing/replacement PPM solution
  • Accountable for reducing complexity across and improving user experience across system configuration
  • Lead strategy and roadmap for Clarity to ensure we are up to date with vendor prioritization of features and changes
  • Accountable for the backlog of improvements, changes, requests made across the Enterprise for Clarity
  • Champion product ways of working in how tooling improvements are delivered, focusing on user experience and continuous feedback, while promoting visibility and transparency of the roadmap and backlog
  • Responsible for the Project Management Lifecycle:
    • Plan Management including OKRs
    • Resource Management
    • Cost and Benefit Management
    • Risk and Issue Management
    • Dependency Management
  • Drive governance, data quality and process elimination across project and product lifecycle system workflows
  • Establish and maintain a governance forum to ensure consistent use, configuration, data quality and prioritisation across all tools
  • Enable portfolio and team level reporting and executive dashboards through tool configurations and data integrations
  • Deliver meaningful insights for delivery performance and resource utilization, adopting a combination of leading and lagging indicators focus on business outcomes and strategic objectives
  • Establish KPIs and feedback loops to drive continuous improvement and user satisfaction
  • Build, lead and develop a high performing Tooling team
  • Foster culture of continuous improvement, innovation and customer-centric service within the team
  • Manage strategic relationships with tooling vendors, ensuring commercial alignment and business value from tools
  • Collaborate effectively with delivery teams, Engineering, Product and Operations leaders to align priorities and improve value
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of proven experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role managing Clarity / Planview or similar Portfolio Management tools on the market
  • Deep expertise in work management tools – Clarity, Planview, Asana, Rally, and/or other comparable platforms.
  • Good understanding of integration platform tools – Dell Boomi, Tasktop (Planview Viz), Connect All
  • Strong understanding of agile, hybrid and waterfall methodologies and how tooling supports their delivery at scale.
  • Proven experience working in large matrixed global organisations, ideally within financial services or technology sectors.
  • Experience leading tooling integrations, migrations or consolidations across sophisticated enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated success in driving tool adoption, change management, and user training programmes at scale.
  • Excellent customer leadership skills. Ability to build trusting relationships with internal and external senior leaders to understand their drivers and collaborate effectively to execute strategic objectives.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience with ability to empower and develop team members and build high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability and consistent track record of leading and influencing large organisations and deliverables with ability to get involved in both high and lower-level technical challenges that impact deliver.
