Cyber Security Engineer – Permanent Role (Hybrid, UK)

Location: Hybrid / Office in West Sussex + UK customer site visits

Industry: Information & Cyber Security

Experience: 3+ years in cyber or information security (preferred)

Travel: UK travel required; driving licence and personal transport essential

About the Opportunity

A long-established UK cyber security provider is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join its growing services team. With decades of experience, industry accreditations, and a strong reputation in security consultancy and managed services, the organisation is expanding its technical capability to support increasing customer demand.

This role focuses on delivering security engineering, consultancy, and solution design across a range of client environments. You’ll help shape security architecture, implement new infrastructure, resolve complex issues, and support the evolution of the company’s cybersecurity strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver security design, technical guidance, and engineering expertise for customer projects.
  • Support sales teams with pre-sales technical input when required.
  • Implement security solutions both remotely and on customer sites.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex security incidents and infrastructure issues.
  • Work with security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAFs, EDRs, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies; share knowledge internally.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong understanding of network security principles.
  • Experience with security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, web security, EDR, vulnerability management).
  • Knowledge of security vendors (e.g., Fortinet, Qualys, Trend Micro, Thales, Imperva) is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
  • Security certifications desirable (Security+, CISSP, CCSP, etc.).
  • Awareness of security frameworks such as NIST, CAF, Cyber Essentials (advantageous).
