MySQL DBA - Cloud Migration (AWS & Azure)

Role Overview

• We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator with strong AWS and Azure cloud migration experience to support a major database transformation programme.
• The role will focus on migrating on-premise MySQL databases into cloud environments, initially into AWS and eventually transitioning workloads into Microsoft Azure.
• This role sits within a migration-focused satellite team working alongside the infrastructure team.
• The successful candidate will play a key role in risk assessment, migration planning, and execution, ensuring zero downtime migrations where possible while maintaining performance and security standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong Database Administration experience with MySQL.
• Proven experience delivering database cloud migration projects.
• Hands-on experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience migrating on-premise databases to AWS.
• Strong performance tuning and database optimisation skills.
• Ability to conduct risk assessment and mitigation planning for migrations.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience with Azure Cosmos DB.
• Exposure to large-scale database transformation projects.
• Experience working in hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Knowledge of database footprint reduction and system simplification strategies.
