DevOps Lead (Hands-on | AWS)

📍UK – Remote (occasional travel to Surrey or Manchester)

💰Up to £95,000 + benefits

A fast-growing AI-driven SaaS company is scaling its platform for enterprise customers and is looking for a hands-on DevOps Lead to take ownership of cloud infrastructure, reliability, and operational maturity.

This is a delivery-led leadership role, ideal for a Lead or Principal DevOps Engineer who wants real ownership and influence while remaining close to the tech.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning a serverless-first AWS environment (Lambda, API Gateway, event-driven architecture)
• Leading and mentoring a small DevOps/SRE team (2 engineers)
• Improving observability and APM maturity (Grafana, modern monitoring stacks)
• Supporting an API-first modernisation strategy for enterprise customers
• Driving Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Partnering closely with Engineering teams embedded in sprint delivery
• Maintaining and improving compliance across PCI-DSS & ISO 27001 (with SOC2 / NIS2 on the horizon)
• Bringing pragmatic ideas, challenging the status quo, and helping DevOps mature across the organisation

What we’re looking for

• Strong hands-on experience in DevOps / Platform / SRE roles
• Deep AWS experience, especially serverless and cloud-native architectures
• Solid IaC experience (Terraform ideal)
• Experience working in compliance-heavy environments (PCI-DSS & ISO27001)
• Comfortable influencing through technical credibility rather than hierarchy
• Curious and open-minded about AI in modern software delivery
• Some leadership experience is useful — years of people management are not required
