Head of Mobile Engineering
My client is looking for a Head of Mobile Engineering to lead and scale their Android and iOS teams during an exciting growth phase.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll own the mobile strategy end-to-end—defining the roadmap, building the team, and staying close to the technology to guide key decisions and delivery.
Key focus
- Own and execute the mobile roadmap, aligning engineering with product strategy, commercial goals, and faster time-to-market
- Build, structure, and scale a high-performing mobile team, including hiring, team design (pods/squads), and leadership development
- Define and drive technical architecture across Android and iOS, ensuring long-term scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Remain hands-on when needed—contributing to code reviews, solving complex technical challenges, and supporting delivery
- Champion engineering excellence, driving best practices, modern development approaches, and continuous improvement
- Improve app performance, stability, and user experience, with a strong focus on quality at scale
- Own budgeting, vendor management, and build vs. buy decisions for mobile tooling and services
- Partner closely with senior leadership, product, and external stakeholders to ensure strong business and technical alignment
- Ensure security, privacy, and compliance standards are met across all mobile platforms at scale
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years in mobile engineering, with 2+ years leading teams
- Deep expertise in Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift), with exposure to both
- Strong understanding of modern architectures (MVVM, MVI) and UI frameworks (Compose, SwiftUI)
- Experience building and scaling high-traffic mobile apps
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable operating across both strategy and hands-on delivery
Nice to have
- Kotlin Multiplatform or other cross-platform experience
- Background in AdTech, telecoms, or B2B2C environments
Why join
- Own mobile at a critical growth stage
- Significant impact on product direction and user experience
- High level of autonomy and influence
- Opportunity to work on products at scale
